Winter is Coming...

It is, indeed… and the ubiquitous saying is spot on these days. Winter means layers and we love nothing more than piling heaps of cushions on a snuggly sofa and cocooning ourselves in a luxury of a warming drink. Add a cosy throw, a couple of Dalmatians snoozing by a roaring fire and you have a refined setting to winter the dark, short days. On a more realistic note, the Dalmatians aside, creating a milieu where you can cosset yourself until the daylight is of an acceptable duration again, is easier done than said. Throw caution to the wind (yes, the pun was intended) and get creative: pair together soft furnishings different colours, textures and weights. There’s no rule book but a principle that staying true to what you love will result in a highly personal and distinctive look. Here, at FifteenFifteen, layers are not limited to coats of paint on canvasses or cashmere jumpers and scarves upon our persons…the studio is hankering down for the winter too. The breezy, lightweight linen curtains are being replaced with velvet ones to keep out the draft, colourful Moroccan Zemmour runners are rolled up in favour of Beni Ourain high pile rugs, the cool palette of light blues and greens is warmed up with addition of orange and red luxurious velvet cushions – a simple yet practical step in setting the wintery mood. The studio pantry is stocked up with mulled spices and an extra large tin of hot chocolate the aroma of which gently blends with woody scent emanating from flickering soy candles. Oh, it is already time to take down elaborately crafted Hallowe’en décor - Oxford Street Christmas lights will be switched on this Sunday, 6th November in London. Winter is, indeed, coming…
